Values

  • Make Disciples

Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  • Academic Excellence

2 Timothy 3: 16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

  • Be Kind

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

  • Work Hard

1 Corinthians 15.58 “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

  • Have Fun

Acts 2:46-47 “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

About Horizon Church

Started by a small group of Christian believers as a non-denominational home church in 2014, Horizon Church is the only predominantly English speaking church in Jaco. The new Church campus being used today was opened for Christmas Eve service in 2019. The church is home for many outreach ministries in the community and we are thankful to call it home for HIS Pods.

Horizon Church Beliefs

*Students who attend HIS Pods Jaco are not required to sign a statement of faith but will attend chapel and be taught with the beliefs of Horizon Church Jaco in practice. Faculty and staff will be required to sign a statement of faith.

At Horizon Church , we believe that Jesus is God. Because of that, everything we do is simply about Jesus. "Simply Jesus" is a mentality that can guide us through so many of life's questions. Our congregation is diverse and even though there are many philosophies and theories of how things should be done, Jesus is always what we are all about. In Jesus, there is power, freedom, reconciliation, and salvation. Jesus should always be, not only the center of our lives, but the center of the Church.

About the Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God and is relevant and applicable to man today. Therefore, we place great emphasis upon teaching it in public, studying it in private, and using it as a guide for our daily lives.

About God

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the world.

About Man

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life

We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ. Christian service is part of the Christian life and is the responsibility of all believers. Our goal is to develop the ministry of every member to the benefit of all. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

About Spiritual Gifts

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercising of all Spiritual Gifts according to the instructions given to us in the Bible. (1 Cor. 12-14)

About the Church

We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. The Church, also known as the body of Christ, consists of those who have trusted by faith in Christ. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by loving Him and making Him known.

GLOBAL STATEMENT ABOUT SHARED SPACES: We gratefully and respectfully operate predominantly on the campus of Horizon Church Jaco. All learning center spaces are utilized by traditional operations of the church on Sundays and other times. Visitors for conferences, funerals, counseling, etc are present on our campus at times during our learning center hours of operation. It is of utmost importance and expectation that we behave respectfully, use kind words, and leave our learning environment tidy at all times. We also expect our behavior guidelines to be followed on our campus and those we visit on any learning center activity.
